Caring for linen
Stone-washed linen arrives pre-softened and only improves. Five rules, none of them hard:
Wash
Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle, with like colors. Linen is strong wet or dry; it doesn’t need babying, just consistency.
Dry
Tumble dry low, or line dry. Pull it out slightly damp if you can, so the fibers relax and the drape settles in.
Iron
Don’t bother. The rumple is the look. If you must, a warm iron while it’s still slightly damp works.
Skip
Bleach and fabric softener. Bleach weakens flax fiber, and softener coats it. Linen softens itself with every wash.
Long term
Rotate between sets if you have two, wash before first use, and store it dry. Flax is one of the most durable bedding fibers there is, so this is bedding to grow old with.
